Adoption in California - Agencies that handle adoption in California can range from government-funded agencies that place California children at little of no cost, to attorneys who arrange private adoptions, to international non-profit adoption agencies. Total adoption costs may run from under $1,000 to as much as $40,000 depending on the type of adoption parents choose to do.
Open adoption - Open adoption is a term generally used to describe a variety of arrangements allowing for ongoing contact between the natural/birth/biological parent(s), and a child placed for adoption. Open adoption is a relatively new phenomenon, and differs from closed adoptions, where no contact is generally facilitated, unless and until one party attempts to search for the other, or both parties register with one of the many adoption contact registers.
Adoption Disclosure Register (Ontario) - The Adoption Disclosure Register (ADR) is an adoption reunion registry operated by the government of Ontario, Canada. It implements the adoption disclosure provisions of the Child and Family Services Act.
Disruption (of adoption) - Disruption is the term most commonly used for ending an adoption. While technically an adoption is disrupted only when it is abandoned by the adopting parent or parents before it is legally completed (an adoption that is reversed after that point is instead referred to in the law as having been dissolved), in practice the term is used for all adoptions that are ended (more recently, among families disrupting, the euphemism "re-homing" has become current).
